As you well know, it’s difficult, and sometimes impossible, to work in the dark. Well in many parts of Haiti they can’t rely on electricity to power up lights, or other devices…it’s often just unavailable! The last time we were there the electricity was off more than it was on! Except for the occasional outage we simply don’t have that concern here in the States.
Well one thing there is plenty of in Haiti is sunlight! And we just received a contribution that makes use of this resource in meeting the need for light in the dark nights with no electricity…solar flashlights! You charge them in the bright Caribbean sun and light up the house/hut/tent in the evening. It is a very useful and practical product. They have a clip on the end allowing it to be hung up to use a house light. There are three settings for flashlight and three settings for house light…it’s really cool! These will get some good use and we’re glad to get them just in time for our trip on Friday.
We have Ken Johansson and Coastal Haiti Mission to thank for these! So, “Thank you, Ken!” I got a text from my son, Jim when he picked up the lights stating that ‘Ken is a real nice guy’…I agree!
